Skills & Drills is a basic, enjoyment-oriented developmental program starting its 13th season. It is focused on helping young SWAT players improve their hockey skills.
Featuring:
- On-ice instruction lead by Jason Allan
- Novice instruction lead by Geoff Lynch, owner of 1st Line Powerskating. Geoff comes from an elite hockey background as he has played for Team Canada at the Nagano Cup, U of A Golden Bears, an All Star MVP in the WHL and many other achievements. Focus on powerskating, puckhandling, passing and shooting.
- Twenty ice sessions from mid-October to mid-March
- Focus on puck handling, passing and skating skills
- Each week players rotate through a number of skill stations
- Kids test and develop their on-net shooting skills
- Emphasis on a fun environment
The Skills & Drills program is open to Initiation 2A/2B and Novice players only (5-8 years of age). With an emphasis on “puck handling” skills, players should have sound basic skating ability (e.g. good balance, turning ability, stopping). Full hockey equipment is mandatory.
The program will be held every Thursday 4:00-5:00 PM (Initiation 2A/2B) 5:15-6:15 PM (Novice) at Tipton Arena (10828 – 80 Ave), starting in October and continuing thru to March . There will be a 2 week break at Christmas.
The cost for this program is $325 for all sessions, or $200 for every other session.
