The
Initiation 1A program is for beginning skaters focused on learning to move and
skate wearing hockey equipment. Normally for players born 2006.
This
structured program, delivered by an experienced and qualified instructor,
teaches basic movement and skating through a variety of development drills. The
players may rotate through different drills through the supervision of on-ice
parent helpers. As the season progresses the players may engage in playing some
fun mini-hockey games that develop the skills learned in practice. The player’s
are supplied team jersey’s to use for the season and introduces them to the
team aspect of hockey.
Players
are on the ice for one hour per week. The first
session commences in mid-October and the last is scheduled for mid-March.
Practices/Games for the SWAT 2010/2011 IN 1A program will commence
Saturday, October 9, 2010 at SouthSide Arena.
Potential ice sessions for the 2010/2011 IN 1A program are as
follows:
Session #1 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm (subject to change)
Session #2 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm (subject to change)
IN 1A will include the following:
- Non-competitive
environment
- No
formal teams (players will be given distinctive jerseys for use during the
season to accommodate grouping)
- Same
ice time each week
- Structured
program
- Qualified
